Smarter growth, not louder

Two weeks ago, the mayor called on residents to “objectively consider the facts” during consultant MartinJenkins’ airport economic and social impact assessments, which would provide the “objective clarity” needed to make decisions about expansion at both airports.
With December looming, there are still no details about how they’ll investigate which facts, when and with whom they’ll talk.
Here, We Love Wakatipu Inc Society outlines some of the objective facts the mayor asks for – like the fact there’s still room for some 1.6 million more passengers within existing noise boundaries. That’s not even counting new noise reduction technology, which will mean more planes are allowed within the existing “bucket of noise”.
